ABOUT US
The Artichoke Inn is possibly the Oldest Pub in the area dating back before Domesday its namesake. The Artichoke Inn Appears from approximatelly 1165 onwards as the inn was used as a recruitment outpost for the crusades.When the crusades returned from Jerusalem they introduced the Jerusalem Artichoke thus the inns name.
In Recent history the Artichoke was part of the Heavitree Brewery Plc (1923-2014) in 2014 the Artichoke became a Freehold property owned by the current proprietor Samuel Key whose family have been based in Christow for Generations. Sam has spent a lot of time and effort to restore the Inn in both look and function.
Offering fantastic high end food plus traditional pub grub with a modern twist the Artichoke Inn has once again become a destination for food and drink. Recently the Artichoke Inn haas also become Cask Margue accredited Pub offering a fantastic range of high quality real ales.
